There are many circumstances and difficulties in life that can affect you and, if left, can lead to stress, anxiety and depression. It is not always possible to talk to family or friends and trying to cope alone can put you under additional pressure. Counselling provides you with a supportive and confidential environment in which you can freely explore the difficulties that are affecting you. Counselling helps you to examine your thoughts and feelings and supports you in making sense of your circumstances. You will gain greater self-awareness and be able to develop strategies and find solutions. Acceptance and respect is a vital part of counselling and can greatly assist you with building your confidence and self-esteem, which in turn will promote change and self-growth.

Counselling sessions last for 50 minutes and usually take place once or twice a week; you can also attend less frequently. There is no maximum or minimum number of sessions, as the number of sessions and how often they take place will depend on the issues that you are facing, what your goals are and to what extent you want to explore your difficulties. We will discuss the arrangements at your first appointment and a clear outline of the therapeutic process will be discussed. You will be encouraged to take an active part in planning your therapy, including setting your own objectives and deciding when you might consider yourself ready to finish your counselling. There are many therapeutic approaches and Kerry can shape your counselling to suit your individual needs. Counselling can really make a difference to you and your relationships. With a better understanding of yourself and your reactions to difficulties you will be able to make beneficial changes that will have a positive impact on every aspect of your life.
